FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can I import without a customs broker?

Only if the FOB value does not exceed USD 3,000. Above that, Chilean regulation requires a licensed customs broker.

How much does it cost to import into Chile?

The general duty is 6% on CIF value plus 19% VAT. Under Chile's trade agreements — with the US, EU, China and 60+ markets — the duty is often reduced to zero, depending on origin and product.

How long does customs clearance take?

With complete documents and no observations, a clearance is typically processed in a few days. Declaration quality is the key factor: correct classification, complete paperwork and permits filed on time.
