Yes. For imports above USD 3,000 FOB, Chilean regulation requires a licensed customs broker. Below that amount you may file directly with Customs.
It depends on the cargo and inspections. With complete documents and no observations, a clearance can be processed in a few days. The key to avoiding delays is declaration quality: correct classification, complete paperwork and permits filed on time.
The Authorized Economic Operator is a certification from the Chile National Customs Service accrediting, after an audit by the authority, that the operator's processes are secure and compliant.
